A Bad Mingled Wryness - January 22, 2009
OK, two weeks in a row, and I’m a day late… again.
However, I am making sales calls, setting up relationships with partners and colleagues, so it’s all OK.
Anyways…
Time Flies
First and foremost, happy birthday to my older son Josh. He is 22 today, so it’s his “royal birthday”… he is 22 on the 22nd. However, a quick google search indicated he does not share a birthday with any reigning monarch. The closest is Her Royal Highness Ingrid Alexandra Princess of Norway (born on January 21, 2009) and Her Serene Highness Caroline Princess of Monaco whose birthday is the 23rd. Shame… so close to being royal…
I’ve helped a lot of people find jobs, coached managers and supervisors on career changes, and written/re-written more resumes than I can count. Joshie-boy (he’s gonna be mad when he reads that) is currently at an early crossroad, balancing his desire to get a job, continue with his post-college internships, or look at attending graduate school. His passion is ecology, a remnant of a two-week trip he and I took nearly 9 years ago to Peru, including a week hiking the Inca Trail to Maccu Picchu.
I try not to get “too involved”, I want him to make his own decisions and his own way, wherever that “way” takes him. I’ve got my ideas, have given him some advice here and there, and just sit back and watch his life unfold in front of him. What a treat. Happy Birthday Josh.
Criss-crossing the Globe
I’m in final negotiations to conduct at least six speeches in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. The topic? How To Promote Employee Engagement Through Compensation and Benefits Strategies in Times of Crises. It’s nice to get this kind of confirmation as a speaker, and an expert in employee engagement and retention. Now if only they can find a translator that can keep up with my 190 words a minute. Whee!
More to come…
